Long time no money...

February 1st, 2008 at 02:38 am

I haven't blogged in a day or two. I am depressed about my finances. I wrote checks, mailed them out, and sat back to relax. Now my phone is disconnected, my gas bill has a disconnect notice, and I don't know where all my money went.
I can't live like this. I have to pay rent, daycare, and other items that I can't live without. I hate bills. I can't live without my phone though. But how do I tell them, here is another 200.00, when you get my other check, don't cash it. YEAH, like that will happen.
I guess I will have to get use to the fact that I am poor. I just filed my taxes online. Talk about depressing; I have two children and I am filing head of household. I thought I would get some money back. That's what I thought.
I will change.
This is the year.
I won't go through this again.
My college education will pay off.
I can change.

Free entertainment

January 28th, 2008 at 07:52 pm

Okay, so I did spend $2.00 on a new puzzle from the Salvation Army, but that puzzle will give us plenty of nights of entertainment. My two children love to do puzzles. I just wanted to have one that was more challenging for Mommy and Daddy.

$20 adding up

Put change under FOUND money
10 cents at CVS
2 pennies in a parking lot
That was by 7:30AM.

Let's get to balancing that checkbook

January 26th, 2008 at 02:27 pm

I don't even want to embarass myself about my taxes and how little I made last year. So I won't.

As I sit here with my Quicken 2008, I am balancing my check book. Why haven't I written down everytime I use my check card? Isn't that supposed to be an automatic? I can't help it. I save the reciepts, but that doesn't count, since when they start to crowd me, I toss them.

I will learn my lesson and get the hang of it. I hate being the adult.

Having company

January 26th, 2008 at 03:56 am

I am on top of the world. I just had my best friend, and my hubbys best friend, who also happen to be married, come over with their baby. I had a great time, and spent 0! Makes me remember the great times I had as a teenager when we would always hang out and spend no money. We were just happy to be together. That was tonight.

More Money in my pocket

January 25th, 2008 at 06:07 pm

I just got $10.00 put back into my checking account because the phone company refused the payments. What a day I am having!

Talking to people

January 25th, 2008 at 05:44 pm

Can you believe it? I called about a nearly $300.00 cell phone bill, and without crying, getting loud or upset, and without cussing (my biggie) I got a $66.66 credit to my account. Way to go me! That never would have happened a few months ago. I was so scared of my creditors that I did not even want to talk to them. I thought they would shut me off, send someone to collect, or some other ridiclous plan against me for money. Add that money to my challenge baby!

Ways to spend you money you don't have

January 25th, 2008 at 02:34 am

I came up with a great idea on how to get rid of all this extra money that I keep saying I have. I spent 32.00 on Quicken to tell me how I spend my money. I already had online with my bank. What did I need that for?
I have done s@#t like that before. And I know I'm wasting it too. Smack me!

Take that one penny at a time

January 24th, 2008 at 09:53 pm

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - It took Vicki Armstrong almost 19 years to save $550, which isn't much of an accomplishment - except that she did it one penny at a time.

Armstrong was planning to take her 55,000 pennies to the bank this week. She said saving them helped her reinforce frugal spending habits.

"It helped me be a little bit more conservative in my lifestyle," said Armstrong, who is planning to retire at the end of the year from Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital, where she works as a maternity technician.

Armstrong has been storing pennies in vases, bowls and the occasional shoebox. In 1993, The (Shreveport, La.) Times reported she had squirreled away 14,000 pennies. Armstrong resisted the temptation to cash them in and kept saving.

Her co-workers and friends have chipped in over the years. "They all hand over pennies generously," she said.

Her husband, Melvin, said he never interfered with her healthy obsession, even when their bicycle rides were interrupted by tiny treasure hunts.

"She would see a penny in the road and just stop," he said. "I would to have to do circles just to let her catch up."

Add this to my total

January 24th, 2008 at 08:37 pm

I paid my $102.54 water bill on time, saving a usual late fee of $2.43. Way to go me. I also called the cable co. to find out why I was being charged for two months of internet, and the guy gave me two $10.00 credits for the next year. That's $20.00 per month that I would have had to pay. He also told me that I was being charged twice since my November bill was half and December bill was never billed at all. How much did I save and not notice it? Just goes to show that you don't complain when you save, but you really pitch a b*&%h when you have to pay more.

Those Damn Credit Cards

January 22nd, 2008 at 10:22 pm

I can't pay you. I have no money. You call and I ignore. You send a bill, and I toss it. I don't want to stiff you, but I have no money. Even when I do give you my last little drop of blood, you just add a late payment fee, finance charge, and other crazy fee, and I owe $40.00 more than when I did pay you. Cut me some slack. Back off a bit and I will give you money with my Tax check. You are killing me with stress and I give up. By the way, I know it's still you when you call Withheld!!!

My first try at the $20 Challenge

January 21st, 2008 at 07:12 pm

Since it has been so cold for the last three days here, I have saved tons in gas money, lunch money, and other things that would have "stolen" my time. I believe that time is money, and my time is worth cash. I don't think that I will put every penny away in this challenge, but I will notice what I spend everyday on just stuff.
I have two children, ages almost 6 and almost 5. I will have to put money towards their birthday parties, but gifts are not a problem, as well as parties at their school.
I look forward to letting everyone know how well I do on the saving.

Budget Lists

January 21st, 2008 at 05:50 pm

I have always filled out budget forms with my own figures for income, rent payments, and credit card debt. HOW DO I MAKE THE WAY I SPEND MY MONEY THE SAME AS WHAT I WRITE DOWN? I put that I only spend $30.00 on tobacco and alcohol, but how do I keep from going over? I only buy cigarettes at the cheapest place, usually CVS, and don't go to bars to drink. I usually hit the liquor store on the way home on Friday. But if I limit myself, I feel that these "fun" things makes them less fun.
