I thought I was past all this

July 8th, 2011 at 11:03 am

Over drawn? What!! I am almost thirty years old and can not fathom what happened to my bank account.
I can not understand why after three years of steady work they are trying to pull me under with the current and sweep me away.
And a monthly fee? ARE YOU INSANE!!! ITS FREE CHECKING!!!

I would get it figured out real soon. And if you have a good record with the bank they might be willing to waive some of the NSF fees.

If you haven't had an OD in over a year, usually banks have a policy to allow an OD fee refund once a year. I used to work in banking and we did this all the time. And even if people had used their 1 we would base it on circumstances. And look to see if there is another account type you can change to that is "truly" free. Hope you get it all cleared up.

Whoops! I know you will be on top of that right away. Could an automatic payment/deduction have been made inappropriately?

I agree with the above. Definitely check with the bank to see what could lead to the OD, and if it is a rare occurrence they might reverse the charge. I hope that they do that, and that you have some insurance of finding what caused the discrepancy! Now, how exactly are they charging you a fee for your free checking? That sounds fishy...
