29-year-old mother of two growing men, currently in the elementary stage of life, still dragging the brat of it all around from my childhood.
Many issues cause me to be less frugal than I would like to be.
Just bought a new house! October 2010 is the beginning of our new home.
Marriage date set: 11*11*11
Everything has been paid or has a half deposit on it. Everything has been under budget too!!!
10-5 update: The couple of over budget items are covered by the under budget ones. The cake was at least 4 times less than a traditional cake. Thank you Krispy Kream!!!

$20 Challenge update: $20 8/5/11

Goals for 2011:

( ) Don't overspend this summer on crap we don't need or use. {so far, so good}
10-5 update: Did great!!!

( ) Grow a bountiful garden this summer and use those veggies in our meals {has not happened yet, but I did start seeds and will plant them soon!!} Update: Did not get planted due to working five days a week and growing automobiles in the garden plot. Maybe next year!
10-5 update: gonna get a jump start on 2012 garden so I don't get discouraged early and it doesn't happen.

( ) Save $1,500 Emergency fund with SmartyPig. {Spent the Vegas $ and the EF$} Feel like a fool now!!! Update: Replaced $150 of that in less than two months. Saving for holidays AFTER E~F.
10-5 update: Daddy's day gift was good but not worth the savings being gone. Kicking myself now, glad I didn't waste it though. Working our way back up slowly!! I hope we get a ton of $ at the wedding to put in this savings!

Goals for 2012:
{} Enjoy the first year of marriage! Spend more time loving and living than worrying and whining.

{} Find a new (used) car for under $1,000 by March.

{} Pay auto insurance in six month increments.

{} Decide about career in teaching or law! Neither will be in the high paying field and will cost a TON, as a Masters is the only thing worth working for (besides maybe a PhD). Butler, here I come!

{} Complete taxes by March with H&R Block, deciding which makes more, two or separate.

No spend day, HARDLY!

I started the day thinking that I wasn't going to spend a dime. I didn't need gas, bought cigarettes two days ago and still have almost a full pack, and knew that I went to the store and spent $200 the day before.
Well, after a short trip to take the boys to Grandma's, I stopped in at the Dollar General.
Bought a clearance belt for $3 and some Easter cakes for $1.50.
Why?
Why did I stop?
Do I need that belt? No, but I noticed my fianc�e wearing my work belt because it is real leather and his is not.
So I got a new one for me for work.
And the cakes, well, I wanted one. That's why they are put there, to tempt me into purchasing.
I will control my spending!!!!
I will not stop next time!!!
I will be responsible!!
Next time!
