Gas back on

July 29th, 2009 at 05:19 pm

I paid $660 to have hot water. I am thankful. I am a little pissed about how ghetto the operators were to me. After I took my dishes to my grandmother's to do them, I told her that I almost felt sorry for making fun of my ex-sister-in-law for trading sexual favors to get her utilities turned back on. Almost.

Lights and gas paid. Water and phone are next. Maybe a credit card will get paid next month.

What do you mean about them being ghetto to you?

Our garden hose contains about 2 gallons of very hot water when it has been extended in the sun on a summer day. That would be enough to fill my dish sink. Then I could rinse in cold.

I'm not trying to be mean, but I have worked as a volunteer and as a director of a crisis center for over 20 years, so I am speaking from observations and experience. (I will say though I have seen progress in your posts)

Have you considered changing your priorities some? I have read through several of your posts, and it seems to me that the gas bill should come before buying cable, taking trips, and buying cigs and alcohol. Have you tried adding up what is spent on those items in a months time? I have a feeling it would pay a chunk of that gas bill. I would forego the kids birthday parties. Bake a cake yourself and invite a few friends/family over. Make your own deorations. You can do a simple party for $10. It will mean just as much to the kids.

Your goal for Christmas for 09 is $500. I would lower that goal to around $150. Put a $10 limit on each person. Kids need gas more than more toys.

Also, you mentioned work is 21 miles away. Have you looked for something closer or tried work study on campus? If I read correctly on one post, you were going into work but you were not working. That is 42 miles of gas for a trip that I don't understand why you made.

Do your kids qualify for assistance in buying school supplies or free lunches? Are they too old for you to get WIC? (it is for ages 5 and under).

    Keep plugging away at it!
