The checks in the mail!

February 4th, 2008 at 11:53 pm

I received my rebate card from ATT. It only took six weeks, like they said. Woo Hoo, $100. I was amazed. Have you noticed that no one ever sends a check in the mail anymore? I received a gift card that I had to activate. I guess the wrong person had their checks stolen, and now no one really send one out. Sometimes, they won't even give you money back, they credit your account with the excess money. I like getting mine back though.

Found money by DS

February 4th, 2008 at 01:01 pm

My oldest son found a dime in the grocery store parking lot. He said can I keep it. Yes! Put it in your pocket. I was proud that he did ask though. He knew it wasn't his, and did not just keep it.
When I get my first paycheck in two weeks, it will be for one day. That's only five hours. Oh well, it's something.

If I quit smoking...

February 2nd, 2008 at 04:22 pm

Days added to your life:1 month, 11 days, 19 hours/0years

How does this make me want to stop smoking? Only one month added to my life. What if my hypothetical bus comes by the next day and flattens me?
I checked out a site about quitting smoking and it said that I will save almost $1,000 a year, but only adds a month and a half to my life.
The money thing makes me want to quit more.

How can I not spend today?

February 2nd, 2008 at 03:30 pm

I could not go anywhere.
My kids will drive me crazy.
Where could we go for free?
It's too cold for the zoo.
I want to go to my Grandma's, but then there are about 15 stores on the way home. I will want to stop and "just look".
I could finish the dishes, laundry, clean the bathroom.
My kids will drive me crazy saying they are bored.
They won't want to help though.
I must figure out what to get from the grocery store tomorrow. That makes me want to shop today. I won't go!
I won't do it!
I am going tomorrow only.
I just need to stay here, read the books I have already, and have the kids play in their room for a while. I just don't want to hear the Playstation all day.

So much for a free day

I am sooooo glad that I finally went to the laundry mat and took 6 blankets that have needed washing since this summer. I had them in storage in the shed. They have been bugging me for some time. I took a twenty dollar bill, with $3.75 in quarters.
My three loads of blankets cost $17.00 to wash and dry. I really don't care how much it cost though. Like I said, I've been meaning to do it for months.
Our picnic blanket, denim jean blankets and camping blankets are now clean, and I feel great. I may be broke, but I still feel good.

I love laundry money

February 1st, 2008 at 06:43 pm

When I was growing up, I was always told that I should do more laundry, since all the money I find I could keep.
They lied. I found $100. in my Dad's jeans once. Did I get to keep it?
Don't think so
But today, I found $1.60 in my washer. I am grown up and have never found that much change at once.
Add that to my little but growing total.

I did my e-file last night. It cost me $10.55, but it is definitely worth it. It should only take 14 days for my funds to be electronically deposited.
Woo Hoo!
I will not be just paying off my credit cards with it either. I owe my Grandma too much money. I also want to pay at least one months rent ahead. I got my job back last week, so there is more money I haven't had. I hope I make more money this year. Deer Creek will open up and I'll work every weekend.
It makes me look forward to next years tax refund.

Free Day!!!

February 1st, 2008 at 03:33 pm

I won't spend any money today. I helped my neighbor move in their new fridge and that made me want to get a little chest freezer even more than I already want to. So, to get that, and not use my tax refund, I must not spend any money. I have not gone to get my nails done in about three months, that saves $21. I also need to cut down on the cigarettes and tequila. They are killing me. Why do I keep buying them?
We were supposed to get six inches of snow last night. There was no snow. I did not run out and buy all the milk and bread I could find. I knew it wouldn't be as bad as they thought. So I will wait until Sunday, which is my normal grocery day.
I think we will stay home and play games or do a puzzle tomorrow. That might be a free day too.
